Comprehensive Evaluation and Recommendations for Existing Programs

Existing hospitalist programs and physician practices may require an evaluation from an outside party for a variety of reasons. HPS intimately understands the challenges and potential pitfalls associated with the administration of a successful hospitalist program. Whether your program is experiencing internal challenges, external challenges, or wants to expand services, HPS will provide a comprehensive and objective assessment culminating in the delivery of a customized solution.

See some examples of our consultative services.

Requests for our consultative services most commonly involve an assessment of the practice’s overall performance. In some circumstances our clients may wish to narrow the evaluation to specific areas such as the program’s financial performance (including an analysis of program subsidy arrangements), resource utilization/management and efficiency, and/or operational, administrative, and clinical structure. Requests for our services have also involved performing an evaluation of the program’s staffing, scheduling, and program model, as well as analyzing the program’s potential for growth (including analysis and recommendations regarding hospitalist workload and capacity). Some programs request an evaluation of external relationships (e.g. with key stakeholders such as the medical staff, referring physicians, patients, nursing staff, ED, hospital staff, and hospital administration). An analysis of the practice culture (with practice colleagues, practice administrators, the practice Clinical Director) is also a requested consultative service.
