Project Goals

In many instances HPS is contacted by potential clients who are experiencing difficulties with their hospitalist program but can’t identify the root cause or clearly define the problem. Dr. Simone is a master diagnostician who will identify the problem(s) and work with you to find the appropriate solution(s). Whether you’re a private group or hospital owned practice HPS will help you define your short and long term goals.

The following are just a few examples of project goals the sponsoring hospital may consider:
  • The integration of the hospitalist program within the sponsoring hospital(s) (including aligning the practice’s mission, vision, and objectives with the sponsoring hospitals)
  • Enhancement of hospitalist provider and hospital employee satisfaction
  • Evaluating the hospitalist programs’ impact on hospital throughput and provide strategies and processes to improve it
  • Developing strategies that support hospitalist utilization of quality care initiatives and patient care guidelines to standardize care within the institution
  • Developing hospitalist practice processes and systems impacting patient care, continuity of care, efficiency, teamwork, and appropriate discharge planning and disposition

The following are just a few examples of project goals for hospitalist programs:
  • Evaluating financial performance; including an analysis of program subsidy arrangements
  • Evaluating resource utilization/management and efficiency; developing strategies and processes to improve practice performance
  • Assessing and providing recommendations regarding operational, administrative, and clinical structure (organizational structure, support staff, policies, procedures, clinical protocols and guidelines, etc.)
  • Evaluating the practice’s staffing, scheduling, and program model
  • Assessing practice culture with practice colleagues, the Clinical Director and administrators
  • Assessing external relationships with key stakeholders such as the medical staff, referring physicians, patients, nursing staff, ED, hospital staff, and hospital administration
  • Assessing the program’s potential for growth (including analysis and recommendations regarding hospitalist workload and capacity)
