Organizational and Operational Analysis

Hospitalist programs frequently experience operational challenges. There are a variety of factors that may be responsible for this and HPS will work with your program to uncover the root cause(s). In many instances the challenges are multi-factorial, involving both hospitalist practice and (sponsoring) hospital systems. We will work with administrators (hospitalist practice and hospital), physician leaders (e.g. hospitalist clinical director, medical staff leaders, VPMA, CMO, etc.), and hospital staff leaders (e.g. nursing, case management, social service, pharmacy, information technology, etc.) to provide strategies and tools that will support practice success.

We find that an evaluation of a practice’s financial performance (including utilization) is extremely valuable to uncover the specific problems that hospitalist programs confront. In addition, if the practice lacks direction or if its goals are unclear, we will work with you to clearly define expectations and align them with the practice’s mission, vision, values, and objectives.

3 and 6 month follow up site review and analysis

HPS can also provide a 3 and 6-month site review and analysis to maintain focus on and momentum of the recommended initiatives. A follow-up site visit is highly recommended. In some instances a remote review may be appropriate.
